With offices in 110 countries, the British Council is one of the largest international organisations representing Scotland worldwide. Our vision is of an internationally-oriented, outward-looking Scotland, in which we are able to contribute fully to the rest of the world and equally one in which we are receptive to the experience of other nations.
Our strategy emphasises three words: perceptions, influence and understanding. We aim to enhance perceptions - the perceptions others have of Scotland and the perceptions we in Scotland have of others. We aim to extend our influence - we have unrivalled international networks and are increasingly proactive in using these for the benefit of Scotland. Finally, and above all, we aim to contribute to mutual understanding between cultures.
