Exhibition Curators - Scotland and Venice Biennale

Jason E. Bowman and Rachel Bradley are a collaborative partnership that develops initiatives and projects in the visual arts.

Jason E. Bowman trained as an artist and cultural theorist and has exhibited widely. In recent years Jason has developed an expanded practice that produces research into the societal value of artistic behaviour. He focuses in developing projects in the public realm and on cultural development initiatives that support artist-led culture.

Rachel Bradley studied art history and then worked in the field of exhibitions organisation for eight years. She held posts at the CCA, Glasgow and Public Art Commissions Agency, Birmingham before becoming an independent curator and public art consultant as Art Agents. Rachel now specialises in commissioning temporary and permanent public art projects for the public and private sector.

Jason and Rachelīs most recent collaborative initiative is the development of the Reputations Public Art Project: Glasgow. They are also two of the co-Directors of Midwest, a project originated in the West Midlands region of the UK, which is a catalyst for communication and collaborations between artists locally, nationally and globally.

Statement
As collaborators our combined practice was originated within the dynamics of the critical mass of contemporary Scottish art in the mid-nineties. Our ideological position is not one reached by consensus, but rather by engaging in constellations of contexts that seek to profile and create opportunities for dialogue and debate.

In this way our practice is predicated upon a mutual commitment to discover and profile the potential for intimacy to be recognised as a significant behaviour in the production, dissemination and contextualisation of the work of contemporary artists and contemporary curatorship.
